NEW YORK – Metro-North Railroad trains during the month of January were on-time 98.9 percent of the time. That’s the third-highest rate of performance in the history of the railroad.
Metro-North President Howard Permut attributed the record to new equipment and good weather, as well as “the ongoing focus by the staff to make sure the trains run on time.”
Permut also told the Metro-North Committee of the MTA on Monday that the railroad will add trains and service to all lines on St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday, March 17, to accommodate the throngs of people traveling to New York City for the annual parade.
