Coleman boys basketball advances to Section 9, Class D title game

TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. — Free-throw shooting was the difference for John A. Coleman Catholic High boys basketball team as the Statesmen advanced to the Section 9, Class D championship game by beating Family School 64-49 on Monday.

Coleman, the defending sectional champion and No. 2 seed, went 20-for-33 at the foul line in the win, and faces top-seeded Livingston Manor (82-47 over Roscoe) in Thursday’s 7:15 p.m. title game at SUNY New Paltz.

Dino Celadon and Jordan Shaw paced the offense for the Statesmen with 20 points and 19 points, respectively.

Justin Bressack added 13 points, while Evan Ducker supplied seven points and 16 rebounds in the win.

Family School, which made nine free throws in the loss, got 14 points from Tarek Mhich and 11 from Lucas Maas.
