Ellenville, Onteora advance to Class B girls basketball semifinals

ELLENVILLE, N.Y. — Regina Steele scored 24 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and Ellenville High moved into the Section 9, Class B semifinals with a 57-40 win over James I. O’Neill on Monday.

Steele reached the point milestone with her first field goal in the second quarter.

She also grabbed 13 rebounds in the win for the third-seeded Blue Devils (12-7), who play Burke Catholic (54-41 over Spackenkill) in Wednesday’s semi.

Kim Craft was the only other player to reach double figures for Ellenville with 10 points.

Ashlyn Boice and Alanna Brostier scored seven points apiece in the loss for O’Neill.

At Boiceville, N.Y., Adrianna DeCicco poured in 27 points and the Indians advanced to Wednesday’s semifinals at top-seeded Highland.

DeCicco also grabbed 14 points, while Addison Muller had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Rene Giuditta had 11 rebounds for Onteora (12-6).

Olivia Baum had 24 points for Liberty.
