Marlboro High All-Star pitcher Courtney Schmelz is making the transition to the collegiate ranks.

Schmelz flirted with a no-hitter into the sixth inning of her debut with Ulster County Community College. She struck out 11, walked just two and allowed only two earned runs on four hits total as Queensborough eventually rallied to win 5-2 in eight innings.

Schmelz was a Freeman first-team All-Star last year with Marlboro, post a 16-2 record with a 1.50 earned run average.

She hit .434 with 32 RBI as a senior with the Dukes, including a long home run off Rhinebeck’s Megan Michie in the Mid-Hudson Athletic League title game.
