Family Services program expands
KINGSTON, N.Y. — Family Services’ Family Education Program, which provides home-based and group-based parent education and supportive counseling to Ulster County families, has expanded.
The program’s management was transferred to Family Services in 2005 and remains supported by funding from the Ulster County Department of Social Services, the United Way of Ulster County and the New York State Parent Education Partnership.
The program now employs six full-time family educators. Each one facilitates groups and provides home-based services to about four families at a time.

Farmers' market seeks crafts vendors
KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Kingston Farmers’ Market is seeking vendors for its Crafts on John Street venue.
The market has almost 40 vendors and attracts more than 2,000 visitors each Saturday from late May to mid-November. It is entering its 12th season.
Crafts on John Street is held the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Vassar College to enroll veterans
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Vassar College has announced it will be the first college to enroll groups of military veterans through a new partnership with the Veterans Posse Program, a pilot program aimed at increasing the college-going and graduation rates among veterans at colleges and universities across the country.
Infor, a software company based in New York City, is the first major sponsor of the Veterans Posse Program, whose 10 initial participants will join the Vassar student body this fall.
Through the program, each Veterans Posse scholar will attend college tuition-free through a combination of the college scholarship and GI Bill benefits, and the students will continue to receive support through to graduation.

BBQ benefits monument fund
TIVOLI, N.Y. — The American Legion and Masonic Lodge will hold a beef barbecue dinner at 3 p.m. May 19 to benefit the Veterans’ Memorial Monument Fund.
The Grounds open at 1 p.m.
Admission will be $15 for adults and $7 for children.
