SUNY New Paltz swept in baseball twinbill

CORTLAND, N.Y. — Matt Prescia had six hits for SUNY New Paltz during Saturday’s 3-2, 2-0 doubleheader loss to Cortland in State University of New York Athletic Conference baseball.

With the rest of the Hawks (5-12 SUNYAC, 18-20 overall) managing just six hits combined, Prescia had no runs scored and no RBI. New Paltz led the first game 2-0 through 6 1/2 innings.

Prescia doubled and singled twice, while teammate Jake Cameron doubled and scored. The Red Dragons (15-2, 30-7-1) scored the winning run off reliever Nick Monaco with two out in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Ray Angelucci blanked the Hawks on three hits by Prescia in the second game to run his record to 9-1. Bryan Mistretta socked a solo home run.
