Kingston man faces gun, drug charges

KINGSTON, N.Y.  — A 26-year-old city man was arrested by Kingston Police Department on Friday, charged with both weapons and drug possession.

Police said Tyrel Swan, of 220 Wall St., Kingston, was found in possession of an illegal handgun and drugs when officers searched his home on Friday.

Police said Swan had a stolen .357 magnum pistol, 100 rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana and drug parphernalia.

Swan was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal possession of stolen property. He also was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon, misdemeanor criminal use of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor criminal possession of marijuana.

Swan was arraigned in Kingston City Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond bail.
