22-year-old New Jersey woman dies after fall while climbing in Mohonk Preserve

GARDINER, N.Y. — A 22-year-old woman who was part of a group climbing the Trapps Cliff section of the Mohonk Preserve died Sunday from injuries she sustained after falling to the rocks below, state police said Monday.

Stephanie Prezant, of Haworth, N.J., was treated at the scene and transported to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where she later died, police said.

The accident happened at around 1:30 p.m.

Police said Prezant had made a successful climb but as she was returning to the cliff base, she fell, striking her head on the rocks below.
