Kingston boys race to Tiger Relays track & field title

KINGSTON, N.Y. — A strong showing by the Kingston High boys highlighted area teams in Saturday’s Tiger Relays track & field meet at Dietz Stadium.

Orion Brown, Qiyam Green and Myles Santiago combined to win two events to lead the Tigers to the title of their own meet.

Kingston finished with 117.5 points in the 22-team team event, with New Paltz (103.5) and Cornwall (56.5) rounding the top three.

Brown, Green and Santiago teamed with Taariq Jones to the capture the 4x100 in 44.3 seconds before combining with Dwayne Richards to capture the 4x200 race in 1:33.2.

Kingston also had wins in the 3x110 hurdles and discus events.

New Paltz (3x400 hurdles, pole vault) and Marlboro (4x400, triple jump) had victories in two events each, while Rhinebeck (1,600), Roosevelt (long jump), Onteora (high jump), Saugerties (shot put) and Coleman Catholic (javelin) had a win each.

Saratoga, meanwhile, won the girls title with 132.5 points, with Kingston (71) and Rondout (54.5) placing third and fourth, respectively.

Saratoga won eight of 16 events, with the Huguenots (triple jump) and Onteora (javelin) accounting for the area wins.

In the freshmen/sophomore division, Seth McClenahan won two events to lead Rhinebeck to the boys title.
