2 CASES CROSS: Saugerties man killed by police in Pa. apparently engaged to Lake Katrine woman injured in Kingston motorcycle crash
IN AN APPARENT bizarre connection between two incidents that happened two days and more than 300 miles apart, a Saugerties man killed by state police in Pennsylvania and a Lake Katrine woman critically injured in a motorcycle accident in Kingston reportedly were engaged to each other.
Police officials investigating the two cases could not be reached for confirmation on Tuesday, but the Facebook pages of Adam Schillinger and Kim Dougherty have the same profile picture of a man and woman kissing; the two are on each other’s Facebook friends lists; and the website weddingchannel.com identifies a Kim Dougherty and Adam Schillinger as being engaged to each other and registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond in advance of an August 2012 wedding.
Numerous people posting comments on the Freeman’s website and Facebook page on Tuesday also said the two were engaged.
Schillinger, 27, was fatally shot by state police in St. Thomas Township, Pa., Saturday morning after allegedly trying to break into a house and brandishing a gun at troopers responding to the scene. (See story here.)
Dougherty, 28, was the passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a two-bike crash early Monday at First Avenue and Kingston Street in Kingston. (See story here.) She and the driver of the motorcycle she was riding, Nicholas Saveskie, 27, of East Kingston, were injured; the driver of the other motorcycle, Brian Ferrari, 30, of Lake Katrine, was killed.
Detective Richard Negron of the Kingston Police Department, who is leading the investigation into the motorcycle crash, did not return a reporter’s calls Tuesday evening, while state police in Chambersburg, Pa., where Saturday’s shooting is being investigated, were unavailable for comment Tuesday after the Freeman learned of the apparent connection between Schillinger and Dougherty.
