Dear Editor: I just read the article (July 23) saying that the Kingston High School freshman retention rate could be as low as 2 percent, which is great, considering it was at about 28 percent just four years ago. It mentions the primary reason for this success is "policy shift" of closing campus. Maybe, for once, it would be nice if the Freeman gave recognition to the wonderful job the teachers are doing, bringing their students to a new level. There are so many dedicated teachers who truly care about the success of their students. Although I’m sure the closed campus policy was a positive change, it should be noted that freshman were never allowed off campus. KAREN FUREY Tillson ksilver620@aol.com
