Senior luncheon slated at schools
BOICEVILLE, N.Y. — The Onteora Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Day Luncheon will take place Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Students will be serving seniors a Thanksgiving lunch at the following schools:
• Phoenicia Elementary School, Route 214, Phoenicia. Call (845) 688-5580.

Woodstock event honors senior vets
WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — Woodstock´s senior veterans will be honored by Staying in Place on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Ruth´s Country Kitchen, 138 Tinker St.
Woodstock resident Ron David Gold, who was drafted into the peacetime U.S. Army in 1963 and later served in Vietnam, will relate stories of
his experiences there, including close-call events that changed his life.
In addition to senior veterans, the event is open to anyone interested in learning more about the benefits of Staying in Place membership or helping as a volunteer. To reserve a space, call (845) 514-4891 and leave a message with your name.
Staying in Place is a nonprofit organization that supports people living in their home community as they grow older, part of the nationwide Aging In Place
movement. Membership is open to anyone 50 and older living in Woodstock and neighboring communities. Subsidies are available to those who cannot afford

Dutchess ID cards offered Wednesday
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — Dutchess County residents may obtain senior citizen identification cards on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the first floor conference room of the Dutchess County Division of Aging Servies, 27 High St.
To obtain an identification card, residents should bring proof of age in the form of a driver’s license or a birth certificate. A voluntary $2 contribution is suggested for the service.

Classes, workshops at senior center
TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. — The Senior Computer Learning Center is offering the following courses and workshops at the Business Resource Center, 105 Development Court, Ulster Avenue:
• Digital Photography (four weeks) — Four weeks from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $50.
• Intro to Computers (eight weeks) — Tuesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. starting this Tuesday. Cost is $60.
• Picasa course (four weeks) — Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. starting this Thursday. Course is $50.
• Basic skills (four weeks) — Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. starting Nov. 26. Cost is $50.
• Picasa overview — Nov. 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $20.
• Computer backup — Dec. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $20.
• Organize Pictures & Files — Dec. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $20.

Holiday Dinner takes place Dec. 1
TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. – The Kiwanis clubs of the town of Ulster and Kingston will have its annual Senior Citizen Holiday Dinner on Dec. 1, with settings at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at John A. Coleman Catholic High School, 430 Hurley Ave.
All seniors are welcome. Due to limited seating (300 people at each meal), it is asked that reservations be made as soon as possible. Reservations can be made by calling Mary Strasser at (845) 336-5959 or Cynthia wadnola at (845) 336-6171.
Senior groups list meeting schedules
WOODSTOCK, N.Y. — The Woodstock Senior Citizens Club will meet Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Woodstock Elementary School, Route 375, for a turkey luncheon put on by the school.
KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Board of Managers of the Hudson Valley Senior Residence will meet Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the residence, 80 Washington Ave.
Members are asked to bring two dozen cookies each to be distributed among the residents as part of the Thanksgiving visit with each resident.
The regular monthly meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m.
PORT EWEN, N.Y. — The American Association of Retired Persons, Kingston chapter No. 2039, will meet Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway.
The guest speaker will be Bob Rizzo. He will be showing his movie “Hachi.”
The chapter’s Christmas party will be Dec. 13 starting at noon at the Stonehedge Restaurant, Route 9W, West Park. The cost is $20 for members, $22 for guests. Reservations should be made by calling Carol Wenzell at (845) 331-6269.
A trip is planned from Dec. 2 through 5 to the White Mountain Hotel and Resort in North Conway, N.H. Includes three nights at the hotel, seven meals, four Christmas shows, a train ride on the Apple Cider Express,a Borderlands Tour and a visit from Santa Claus. The cost is $575 per person, double occupancy.
