ROSENDALE, N.Y. — The Town Board has approved a one-year contract with the town’s Highway Department employees that makes only minor changes to the collective bargaining agreement.
The contract was approved during a board meeting last week and will run through 2013.
“All it really covered was an addition (of) aunts and uncles on bereavement pay and basically a wage adjustment for the year 2013,” Councilman Robert Gallagher said.
Specifics about wage changes were not immediately available.
There are nine Highway Department employees covered by the contract. They are members of Teamsters Local 445.
“The other things that are in here are reductions ... of benefits for new employees,” said town Supervisor Jeanne Walsh. “So anyone hired after January 1, 2013, will not get as many benefits as the existing employees. We’re starting to trim it down a little bit.”
