A Dutchess County resident was charged with first-degree murder on Saturday for the shooting death of a Greene County man, according to state police.
Maurice L. Pratt, 30, of 3 Hammersly Ave., Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody about 7:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn on Washington Avenue in Kingston, according to Senior Investigator Scott Youngblood.
Pratt was charged in connection with the killing of Scott A. Myer, 40, whose body was found on New Year’s Day in his home at 262 West Road in Greenville, police said.
Myer, who last was seen just before Christmas, had been shot multiple times, Youngblood said.
The investigator said Pratt and Myer had known each other for several years, but he did not elaborate. He also did not provide a possible motive for the killing.
Pratt was arraigned Saturday by Catskill Town Justice William Wootton and was sent to the Greene County Jail without bail, Youngblood said.
Pratt’s arrest came after an investigation by state police, the Greene County District Attorney’s Office, the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the village of Catskill Police Department., the city of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the city of Kingston Police Department, according to state police.
Greenville is in northern Greene County, between Cairo and the Albany County line.
